On a picture perfect fall day, Solorio cross country took a major step forward as a program. For the first time in school history, the Sun Warriors were represented in the IHSA State Cross Country meet. True to form (and in a race that would make running legend Steve Prefontaine proud), freshman standout Adonaliz Hernandez again ran a race of pure guts. He put himself in position the first mile, and although he paid for it the second mile, he dug down deep and pulled out a strong last mile.
Carrying Hernandez throughout the race was the support of his teammates (some of whom are pictured above) who, despite not being able to run, woke up early to get down to Peoria and witness history while supporting their teammate. Such support epitomizes what is at the core of any great team and especially at the core of this team. Whether it is the fastest or slowest runner, an unrelenting commitment to greatness in all facets of life have fueled these runners and will continue to do so going into winter conditioning, track, and eventually into next cross country season. Congratulations all on the strides made this year, the future is surely bright!
