From left to right, Brandon Galicia, Edgar Flores, and Martin Barrientos show off their medals after competing at Reavis

Rain at Reavis Doesn’t Dampen Sun Warriors

For the first time in school history, the Sun Warriors walked away from the Reavis Invite with some hardware in hand. Setting the tone from the beginning were the Fr/So boys. With the one-two punch of freshmen Brandon Galicia (20th in 18:00) and Martin Barrientos (27th in 18:17) Solorio was off and running with an 8th place finish in a field of twenty two suburban and catholic schools. Feeding off the momentum of the Fr/So boys, senior Edgar Flores led the varsity boys finishing 26th with a time of 17:35.

Not to be outdone, a shorthanded girls team turned in a strong performance on the muddy course. Sophomore Mariah Torres led the way in the Varsity girls race while senior Erica Franco turned in a great performance to lead the Open girls. The strong performance of freshmen Alondra Romeros, Leslie Barboza, and Jackie Cisneros put an exclamation point on a day ruled by freshmen. Good luck to the boys and girls when they see many of the same teams at Argo next week!
