Distance Girls Roll at Evanston

The Lady Sun Warrior Distance squad competed against many talented squads at a small meet this past Tuesday, hosted by Evanston High School. Even though there was only one distance event available, being the 800, we still used it as an opportunity to get in some quality speed work and to get in one final competitive opportunity before the City Championship Meet. Our girls were separated among 4 different heats even though we were hoping it could be less.

Leading the way overall for our girls was Ruth Garcia with a new personal best time of 2:44, which was also a new indoor school record! Other performances that stood out was from three of our freshman, Giselle Tena (3:00), Jennifer Lopez (3:02), and Ivette Camacho (3:04.) Not only did they all ran huge personal pest performances, I loved the way they took risks during the race and put them selves in a position to finish strong. All our freshman are coming along well! It was also great to see Maria Garcia start to have some positive results as she finished closely behind Ruth in 2:47. See a chart below of our results. Great job to all!
