The 2016 cross country season is underway and although the course ran slow this past Saturday, the Sun Warriors appear ready for another season of successes. Starting the meet off were the F/S girls, led by freshman Kaylani Esteban who finished 27th followed closely by sophomores Ana Garcia, Giselle Tena, and Ivette Camacho. Congratulations to all the F/S girls for all earning PRs in the first meet of the season. Even though she wasn’t in the F/S race, fellow sophomore Marley Vargas led the way in the open race, cutting six minutes off of her previous PR to finish 37th out of over two hundred runners!
On the boys end, sophomores Russel Cano and Lorenzo Rivera showed just how far they have come since their freshmen year with each running a hard fought race and having great season debuts. Special congratulations goes to junior David Hernandez who was rewarded for his hard work all summer by running a twenty nine second PR. Great job to all the boys and girls on a strong first weekend and good luck at Reavis or Detweiller this weekend!
